Did I miss something? Did the Timbers have a player sent off before the game started? It appeared they were playing at least one man short. Were they upset with GW threatening them by trading away the team captain? This was a pathetic exhibition by the Timbers against a usually mediocre team that the Timbers made look like an MLS contender. Too bad there was a good crowd to witness this poor excuse for a game. If the players can't make a better effort than that, Merritt's going to have to do more than hire a spanish announcer. Timbers made somewhat of an effort in the 2nd half, but too little too late. Are we soon going to have a starting line-up that has a chance to gel? We're long past the pre-season, if we have any hope for a post-season something better change or else write off another season of disappointment.

Even with the poor play we will make the playoffs but how long we last in the playoffs will be very short. The team looked lost yesterday and you can say what you want about Gregor the team did play better with him on the field. As a Timber fan from the 70's I have seen many Timber seasons like the current one. I am not happy about it but it is not a surprise. Last nights match was one they needed to win to stay in third place but now you will see many teams pass us. If you have a poor product on the field it tends to keep the fans from coming back to the next match. The second half the team did play better and maybe those players who finished the match last night should be the starters for the next match.

Irony. Puerto Rico played every scheduled July game on the road, and only lost the first one in Miami (their shortest trip). Moreover, well, PR is currently top of the league.
That doesn't mean there isn't a steady supply of SWIWS in Portland this year. Just saying.
