Some years ago I started to follow other teams in the off season like many other fans. I started by following Halifax Town as one of our players Sean McAuley became an assistant coach and player for the Shaymen. Jake Sagare played there as well. At the end of 2003 season I became friends with Mike (Northern Lad) a Carlisle supporter and followed them as well. In 2005 Sunderland paid a visit and an instant bond was formed with the Timbers Army thus I follow them as Gary is one of the best lads I have ever met. 2006 was a vistit to England where I watch Carlisle win at home, Halifax Town tie at home, Sunderland play and a visit to Hartlepool where I met Dave. Then this last season a meet up with Geoff and Andy from Preston North End when thier team came over to play.
On my last visit to England I enjoyed watching the lower divison clubs play. Carlisle and Halifax where in the fight to move up and Hartlepool was in the drop. The Timbers Army only saw Hartlepool play which was not as exciting as the other two matches.
So how are they all doing? Halifax Town is struggling both on and off the feild as they are in limbo as new ownership are trying to take over and the team sits in 15th place old Conference (Blue Square Premier) Non League.
Hartlepool sit 3rd and Carlisle are 4th in league 1.
Preston won their first match of the season in the Champions league but sit in 22nd in regulation zone.
Sunderland won as well yesterday in Premier League and sit 14th.
Best of luck to all these clubs!
