Final Score 1-1
The Timbers were Robbed, the ref blew the call! That should make all the Timber fans happy. Still the Timber have not lost in their first three matches thanks to a Ryan Pore strike in the second half. Four goals in three games is not bad for the Timbers midfielder. Montreal on the other hand after two games have a loss and one tie. Plus they could only get their score on a PK. That is not a very good start to a season for a team that won it all last season. Still the game was a good test for thr Timbers.
The flow of play was very even with Montreal gaving 7 shots and Portland with 6. Montreal had 5 conerkicks to Portlands 3. Portland only had to make one save to Montreals 3.. So off the Timbers main site we have the ratings of each player for this match submitted by the media, I wonder how many we are talkng about but anyway here they are.Timbers Player Ratings (on a scale of 1-10 as submitted by Portland media):
Starters:
GK – Steve Cronin – 7, D – Steve Purdy – 7, D – Quavas Kirk – 7, D – Mamadou Danso – 7, D – Ian Joy – 7, M – James Marcelin – 7, M – Ryan Pore – 8, M – Brian Farber – 7, M – Johan Claesson – 7, F – O.J. Obatola – 6, F – George Josten – 7
Subs:
D – Stephen Keel – 7, M – Tony McManus – 7, M – Rodrigo Lopez – 7, F – Takayuki Suzuki – 7, F – Doug DeMartin – 7
So as you see the only player who did not have as good of a match then the rest is O.J. Obatola at 6 out of 10 points, Pore had eight which is no surprise as he scored and everyone else was 7 out of 10. Well I like to pick on Taka so I will say once again he was rated to high. Maybe a 6 for Taka would have been correct. Makes me wonder how a player would ever get 5 or less. So I guess Timber fans you have nothing to worry about as the lads should never get a rating lower then a 6 out of 10.
On to Thursday when the Whitecaps come to town!
