For the second year on a row the Portland Timbers faced the Seattle Sounders at PGE Park in the US Open Cup. A sold out crowd watched The Timbers fight the Sounders to a 1 to 1 Draw in regulation and two extra periods. Seattle came away with a one goal advantage in PK's thus moving on to the next round of the open Cup. Portland played very well against a team that was better skilled and big.
Seattle got on the scoreboard first as Nate Jaqua scored as he deflected a pass into the Timbers net 15 minutes into the match. The Timbers evened the match in the 38th minute as Bright d**e put his shot under a diving Kasey Keller off a nice pass from Ryan Pore. The Seattle defenders had problems the entire match containing d**e. Seattle defender Taylor Graham was sent off for a second yellow as he took d**e down just outside the area in extra time.
My take on the evening.
It was one of the best played match I have seen in a very long time as a Timbers fan.
